Cookie Policy.

The cookies and similar technologies we use, why we use them, and how to control them.

Last updated: April 8, 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how Pendulum Trader uses cookies and similar technologies on our website and authenticated app. Read it alongside our Privacy Policy.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They are used to remember your preferences, keep you logged in, analyze traffic, and — in some cases — for advertising. “Similar technologies” includes localStorage, sessionStorage, and device fingerprinting.

2. Categories we use

Strictly necessary (always on)

These are required for the Service to function. You cannot opt out of them without breaking the site. No prior consent is required under GDPR or ePrivacy because they are exempt under Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive.

  • Supabase auth session: keeps you logged in after you authenticate.
  • CSRF protection tokens: prevent cross-site request forgery on state-changing requests.
  • Consent state: a small localStorage entry that remembers whether you accepted or declined optional cookies, so we don't re-ask every page load.

Analytics — cookieless (always on)

  • Plausible Analytics: a privacy-first, cookieless analytics tool. Plausible does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. It counts page views and basic aggregates only. Because it does not store information on your device, it does not require consent under ePrivacy.

Analytics — consent-gated

These only load after you click “Accept” on the cookie banner. If you decline, they never load.

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4): Google's analytics platform. We use it to understand aggregate traffic, traffic sources, and article engagement. IP addresses are anonymized. We do not use GA4 for advertising, remarketing, or Google Signals.

Payment

  • Stripe: on pages where you enter payment details, Stripe sets its own cookies for fraud prevention and session integrity. These are set by Stripe directly and governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy.

Advertising / marketing

We do not use advertising cookies. We do not run retargeting campaigns. We do not sell data to advertisers.

3. How to control cookies

  • Cookie banner: on your first visit to the marketing site, a banner asks whether you accept optional analytics cookies. You can accept or decline.
  • Change your mind later: clear the Pendulum Trader localStorage entry for your browser (DevTools → Application → Local Storage → delete the pt-consent key) and refresh the page — the banner will reappear.
  • Browser controls: all modern browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies in their settings. Instructions: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge.
  • Global Privacy Control: we honor the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser sends GPC, we treat it as a declined consent for GA4 and as an opt-out of sale/share under CCPA.

4. Retention

Cookie lifetimes vary. Strictly necessary cookies are session-based or expire within a year. Consent state is stored indefinitely in localStorage until you clear it. GA4 cookies, when accepted, expire within 14 months per our GA4 configuration.

5. Changes to this policy

If we add, remove, or replace a cookie, we will update this page. Material changes — for example, adding a new third-party tracker — will re-trigger the consent banner.
